The R1 series is Unitree's dual-arm robot family. The R1-A is the upper body with two arms, waist and head for mounting on a fixed or mobile base; the R1-D adds a motorised, height-adjustable mobile base with chassis LiDAR (683 mm shrunk to 1600 mm raised).
Each version is available with 5 or 7 degrees of freedom per arm (R1-A5 / R1-A7) and with a two-finger gripper, three-finger or five-finger dexterous hand. With 15 to 31 degrees of freedom, 60 Nm shoulder torque, 2 to 4 kg arm payload, stereo vision with RGB and depth, and open interfaces including drag-and-drop teaching, the R1 series deploys quickly for sorting, assembly, machine tending and public interaction.

Key features
The Unitree R1 platform: R1-A and R1-D dual-arm robots

Modular dual-arm architecture with 15 to 31 degrees of freedom
Depending on configuration: 5 or 7 degrees of freedom per arm, 1 in the waist, 2 in the head and 1 to 7 per end effector. The R1-A5/A7 and R1-A5-D/A7-D offer different levels of reach and manipulation.
Wide working range and high joint dynamics
Fixed R1-A models offer waist yaw up to ±150°; the mobile R1-D models ±35°. The head moves up to ±115° yaw and ±36° pitch, while the 7-DOF arm configuration offers approx. 555 mm arm length.
Up to 4 kg arm payload and 60 Nm shoulder torque
Maximum arm payload is approximately 2 to 4 kilograms, depending on arm posture and configuration. The shoulder joints deliver up to 60 newton metres of torque.
Stereo vision with RGB and depth imaging
Binocular sensing with a 146° horizontal and 124° vertical field of view, RGB up to 1280×720 at 30 Hz and depth up to 544×448 at 10 Hz. The D versions add chassis LiDAR and support optional wrist cameras.
Onboard compute and integrated interaction
8-core high-performance processors in head and body, with 10 TOPS of compute in the head module. Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, a 4-array microphone and two 3-watt speakers support local control and interaction.
Open secondary development and quickly interchangeable tooling
Open interfaces for system, robotic arms, audio, lighting and vision support customer-specific development and drag-and-drop teaching. End effectors can be swapped quickly for different processes.
